Join local artist and educator Jax Preciado for a restorative 90-minute watercolor workshop at Kiʻikau Printers. Together, we’ll paint hand-painted holiday ornaments, botanical wreaths, and greeting cards using loose watercolors and fine-liner ink, then write our gratitude, peace, or energy into them. Whether you want to create something heartfelt to gift or simply enjoy a quiet morning for yourself, this beginner-friendly session is designed to help you slow down and unwind.

What We’ll Explore Together:

Jax will walk you step-by-step through painting custom ornaments, berries, and botanical shapes using vibrant watercolors and ink pens. Starting with simple, fluid "pretty little circles," we’ll break down the entire process—no rigid rules or artistic perfection required.

How We’ll Create Step-by-Step:

  1. Pretty Little Circles: We’ll start on practice paper, learning how to lay down simple watercolor shapes that bloom into bright berries, botanical wreaths, and festive ornaments.

  2. Adding Ink Details: We’ll layer waterproof fine-liner pens over the paint to add crisp leaves, vines, stems, and loose linework.

  3. Writing Intentions & Finish: We’ll apply our line-and-wash pieces onto premium watercolor cardstock—writing our gratitude, peace, or energy onto them (with optional Gelly Roll sparkle!) to create finished cards or ornaments ready to frame or gift.

Everything Is Provided:

  • Canson Graduate watercolor cards (A2 size) + matching envelopes, plus extra watercolor paper

  • Full access to professional watercolor paints, waterproof fine-liner pens, Gelly Roll pens, and brushes

  • Physical examples, templates, and light refreshments in a cozy studio setting
